Teens from the Lititz Grace Brethren Church, of Lititz, Pennsylvania, demonstrated God’s love in action as they participated in the We-Care Pittsburgh outreach on Wednesday afternoon.
The group, which included 21 teens and three leaders, traveled to the Cornell School District, in Coraopolis, to assist with several maintenance projects. The students helped with scrubbing, scraping, power washing, and painting hallways in the main building, which houses the elementary, middle, and high schools for the small district.
The students, who volunteered for approximately three hours, arrived and quickly began working.
As the students did various manual labor projects, they realized the positive difference they can make in the lives of others. Edrea, one of the students, stated that “it’s fun to help people,” while Jimmy, another student, remarked that “it’s fun to work together.”
People were quick to notice the students’ initiative and enthusiasm to serve others. According to Jeremiah, the group leader, “They’re good kids, and they work real hard….”
As the students were finishing up their work, Dennis, the school employee supervising the students, reflected: “They’ve been a great asset to the Cornell High School from a maintenance standpoint; they’ve helped me quite a bit here. They showed up ready to work, with an outstanding attitude.”
