Programs

Students: The target audience of youth conference is 7-12th graders, as well as high school graduates in a ministry program called “Fusion” (see details below). Students have the opportunity to experience two main sessions a day, choose between a variety of daily training seminars, participate in organized sports, and do service projects to benefit the local community. Unique to Momentum, all students are housed on-campus with their youth group.

See the Schedule of Events.

Fusion: A special track designed specifically for those out of high school one year through age 24. The purpose of Fusion is to equip high school graduates to be “on mission.”  During the week, these young adults will be equipped in four main “on mission” areas, as they learn how to: disciple a young person; equip others; discover and use ministry skills; and be on mission at home. Fusions students will enjoy many of the same schedules during the week as the high school students – but will have their own Fusion training tracks in the morning, their own Fusion ministry outing; as well as their own schedule after the last Main Session of the evening – before retiring to the dorm for the evening. Fusion attendees will be housed with their local youth group. Separate housing will be available for Fusion students whose local youth group is not attending Momentum.

Youth Worker: A Youth Worker from a church supervises a group of same-gender students (with a recommended 1:12 ratio) during the week of Momentum. The minimum number of Youth Workers needed per group will be determined by the number of same-gender Students. All Youth Workers are required to attend the staff orientation meeting on Monday, July 13, 2009, as well as attend daily staff breakfast meetings held Tuesday-Saturday. Youth Workers are also responsible for a certain assignment given on the duty roster, such as helping with dorm security or room inspections, ushering at main sessions, “patrolling” various sections of the campus, chaperoning afternoon options, or helping lead other various options. Note: Individuals wanting to serve as a “youth worker” during Momentum should be at least 20 years of age. If younger than 20, please contact registrar@cenational.org to see if you qualify to serve as “youth worker”.

Adult Guest: Adult guests (ages 25 and up) have no assigned responsibility and can simply come and be part of Momentum. Registration includes lunch and dinner on campus and all Momentum programming. Adult guests will be responsible for their own breakfast and lodging. Adult Guests may choose to participate in Generations programming free of charge.

Generations: A track of Momentum designed especially for parents or adults (ages 25 and up) to experience God along with the students. Programming for Generations includes a special luncheon for a time of fellowship with other adults and daily training by relevant, dynamic speakers. There is no separate registration for Generations. Adults registered for Momentum may elect to attend (this includes Adult Guests).

On Saturday, Vision For Youth's Mel Walker, Tim Ahlgrim, and Cheryl Fawcett will lead a special day-seminar for parents. They'll cover topics like Age Group Characteristics, Rules--When? Where? Why?, Why do you need a church youth ministry?, Issues with siblings, When a young person strays, Busy kids--right or wrong?, Questioning: right? Or wrong?, Responsibilities to older students, Resources for parents, How to love your kids, How to disciple your kids, Issues teens will face...Issues parents will face, Keeping spiritual areas the priority. This day-long event is free to Momentum registrants, but is also open to non-Momentum registrants for a $15 fee which includes lunch.

Day Guest: The Day Guest option to attend Momentum is primarily made available for individuals who are not familiar with the conference to have an opportunity to experience what it is like – with the hopes that in the following year, they would consider to attend the entire week. In addition, parents of students who are attending conference, often wish to visit their son/daughter during the week. Pre-conference registration is not required. All guests visiting campus (regardless of attending a free session or any no-cost events) are required to register at the Momentum Office as soon as they arrive on campus. Guests are required to register each day they arrive on campus. The initial Main Session you choose to attend is FREE. Admittance to any number of Main Sessions after attending your initial first session will cost $25/session. Admittance to other programming throughout the day is also available.
